NEARBC Nodes
NEARBC consists of two regional nodes. Each node builds on areas of research strength within their regions and responds to the requests and concerns of the Aboriginal communities who represent and reside in those regions. The two nodes are directly involved with the distinct Aboriginal communities and researchers within their geographical areas. The main objective of the nodes are to create an environment where researchers and communities can collaborate to develop research capacity that is relevant to Aboriginal peoples and is competitive in national and international arenas. Although the NEARBC nodes operate at their respective institutions, they are meant to represent the interests of the distinctive cultural groups and researchers within their geographic regions, and not just the University at which they are housed.
To avoid duplication, each node operates independently while cooperating to achieve the main objectives and high level outcomes of the entire network. Each node consists of a Node Leader and a Node Coordinator, and is responsible for nominating a representative from the Aboriginal community in the region they represent to sit as an elected member on the NEARBC Advisory Committee.
